Terms of service
The rules for using this site. Short version: we publish information about investment advisors and investor tools for free; we are not an investment advisor ourselves; please verify anything important before acting on it.
Acceptance
By accessing https://smart-investor-financial-tools.com you agree to these terms. If you don't, please don't use the site.
What this site is — and isn't
Smart Investor is an informational directory of investment advisors, investor tools, and related editorial content. We are not a registered investment advisor, broker-dealer, financial planner, insurance agent, tax preparer, or attorney. Nothing on this site constitutes financial, investment, tax, legal, or insurance advice. Listings are not endorsements. A firm's presence in the directory is not a recommendation, and no listing guarantees the accuracy, currency, or completeness of the information shown.
Your money, your decisions
Before hiring any advisor you find here, verify the firm's registration on FINRA BrokerCheck or SEC IAPD, read their Form ADV Part 2A brochure, and ask for their fee disclosure in writing. We link out to both regulators from every advisor detail page. The information in a government filing supersedes anything on this site in the event of a discrepancy.
Use of the site
You agree not to:
- Violate applicable laws or regulations.
- Attempt to access areas of the site that aren't public.
- Scrape or automate bulk download of the directory — public regulatory sources are the appropriate place for that.
- Interfere with the site's operation or security.
- Reproduce, republish, or redistribute site content without permission.
Accuracy and corrections
We work to keep listings current and correct, but we can't guarantee accuracy at any given moment. Advisor regulatory data changes continuously. If you find an error — wrong credentials, outdated address, misrepresented fiduciary status, anything else — please tell us. We correct or remove entries within one business day of a credible report.
Affiliate disclosure
The advisor directory contains no affiliate links of any kind. No firm pays to be listed, listed higher, or displayed differently. The tools section includes a small number of affiliate links where clicking through to a tool's vendor may result in us earning a referral fee at no additional cost to you. Affiliate status never affects a tool's rating, inclusion, or position in the list. When we do receive a referral fee, it goes toward site operating costs.
Third-party links and content
We link to external websites, including advisor firm sites, tool vendors, regulator databases, and social platforms. We don't control those sites; their content, accuracy, and privacy practices are their own responsibility. Your use of any external site is subject to its terms.
Intellectual property
Editorial content on this site — written guides, site design, code, and original copy — is ours and protected under copyright. Advisor firm names, credentials, and disclosure data belong to the firms themselves or are derived from public regulatory filings. You may reference and link to our content with attribution; you may not wholesale republish it.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or other intangibles, arising from your use of this site or from acting on information found here. The site is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
Indemnification
You agree to hold us harmless from any claim arising out of your misuse of the site or your violation of these terms.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes are noted by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and, where applicable, the state in which the site operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
